There's a diamond in the sky over the country of Georgia — in the form of a glass bar suspended from a bridge dangling about 900 feet above the Tsalka Canyon (also known as Dashbashi Canyon). It's located about a two-hour drive west of the capital city of Tbilisi.

The spectacular attraction opened in 2022 and features a 787-foot-long Diamond Bridge, as it's been dubbed by the Georgian-Israeli investment firm Kass Group, which backed the project. The group, which has worked on amusement parks and other projects in and around Jerusalem, called the bridge the development's "crown jewel" with a "first-of-its-kind hanging bar" in the center that it said "will constitute a unique attraction for international tourists as well as local residents." --> CAN'T FIND THESE QUOTES ANYWHERE, UNLESS THIS WAS IN AN INTERVIEW BY THE AUTHOR?

The glass bar, which has several levels, is located at the highest point of the bridge, and will be submitted to the Guinness World Records with hopes it will be certified as the restaurant suspended at a highest point from a bridge, Ekaterine Tordia of Kass Group said, according to Agenda.ge, a Georgian English-language news site.

If accepted, the bridge will join other marvels around the world like the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in the Czech Republic, the longest waterslide in Malaysia, and the world's longest zip lines

The prime minister of Georgia, Irakli Garibashvili, said at the attraction's opening ceremony, "This unique place is a clear example of the confluence of the protection of our heritage and the development of a modern world-class infrastructure," as reported by Agenda.ge.

The bridge also has a zip line for guests to bike across, as well as cliff swings, according to CNN, while Kass Group also says there will be laser light shows that can be seen from the visitors' center and the restaurant.

The transparent structure allows new viewpoints of the Dashbashi Canyon (also known as Dashbash and Tsalka) Natural Monument, with the Ktsia (Khrami) River running through volcanic rocks, and spectacular waterfalls and diverse wildlife in the area.

"The vegetation cover of the surrounding ecosystem is rather sparse, whereas the plants on the steep slopes of the canyon and astounding waterfalls create [an] absolutely different micro-landscape, with characteristic micro-climate specific fauna," according to Georgia's Agency of Protected Areas.

Visitors to the park can also access a trail from the visitor center through the valley to a waterfall. While it's only about a mile long, the agency's website says it typically takes about an hour to hike.

There aren't accommodations in the surrounding areas, but Dashbashi village in Tsalka, is a five-minute drive away. The Diamond Bridge is part of a larger project by Kass Group to establish a Tsalka Canyon nature reserve to ramp up tourism to the area. Kass Group also said there are plans for an "exclusive resort including 100 premium units in a closed-off premise overlooking the reserve,” in addition to other attractions like swimming pools, camping areas, and a restaurant.
